Flamenco shows in Madrid are available in a number of impressive venues. Most guidebooks warn against visiting the touristy “shows” or tablaos on the grounds that they’re not genuine. From our point of view we believe these places offer a good night out and we’ve had no complaints from Spanish Fiestas customers.
Taberna Casa Patas
Address: c/Cañizares, 10
Metro: Antón Martin
Casa Patas offers some of the finest flamenco performances in Madrid with artists of the stature of Chaquetón, Remedios Amaya, Chano Lobato, La Niña Pastori and many more. It is a location not commonly frequented by tourists. Before and during the show tapas are served (ham, cheese, pork dishes, spicy Spanish sausage, plates of fried fish) as well as steaks and rabo de toro (bull’s tail), the house speciality.
Café de Chinitas
Address: c/Torija, 7

Over the years it has played host to some of the greatest flamenco artists and had many national and international celebrities amongst its guests. The show changes monthly and the quality of food available during performances is as excellent as the performances themselves.

Address: c/Olmo, 2

Infamous old bar in the streets of Barrio Lavapiés which has long been frequented by Madrid’s flamenco musicians. Apparently the late, great Camarón de la Isla sang here until 11am but any such spontaneous performances these days are unlikely to be found in the bar as closed sessions take place from time to time without a tourist in sight.
Address: c/Cava Baja, 34
Metro: La Latina
This is a genuine and long-established flamenco venue with hardly a tourist in sight. Performances take place from Tuesday to Sunday from 10pm to 3am. People sit around in the bar, some pick up the guitar and impromptu performances result.
