Cordoba Restaurants
You must choose your restaurants carefully in Cordoba as there are a growing
number of overpriced tourist places that aren't worth the effort.
A highly recommended dish in Cordoba is salmorejo – a thick gazpacho like dip
with jamón serrano and egg on top.
Oxtail (rabo de toro) is a great favourite
and you'll find a number of restaurants whose menu is influenced by Arab cuisine
and offer such dishes as chickpeas with spinach (garbanzos con espinacas).
Here are a few restaurants that we recommend.
El Caballo Rojo
Address: c/ Cardenal Herrero 28
Tel.: 957 47 53 75
Located right next to the Mezquita and
one of Cordoba’s most famous restaurants. It’s quite pricey but excellent
quality. Try the rabo de toro (oxtail) and red house wine.
El Churrasco
Address: c/Romero 16
Tel.: 957 29 08 19
One of the city’s most famous restaurants whose speciality is churrasco (a grilled pork dish, served with pepper sauces) and
salmorejo (a thick Cordoban version of gazpacho).
Patio de la Juderia
Address: c/Conde y Luque, off Plaza Benavente
This is a classy
restaurant at reasonable prices .
Restaurante Bandolero
Address: c/ Torrijos 6
Next to the tourist information office
this restaurant comes highly recommended for a wide variety of meals from the a
la carte menu and the platos combinados.
Restaurante El Triunfo
Address: c/Corregidor Luís de la Cerda 79
Facing the Mezquita.
One of the few worthwhile places in this area offering a wide range of
mid-priced meat and fish dishes.
Places to Avoid ....
There's a small restaurant set back off a main street called La Herradura. Poor
food, small portions and well overpriced. Give it a miss!
