Seville Hostels

Many visitors to Spain aren’t comfortable with the idea of staying in a “hostal” as it conjures up thoughts of some kind of down and out’s hostel in English. This is a fallacy as a Spanish “hostal” is simply a cheap hotel which is often a family run business.

In some parts of Spain these “hostals” are bursting with character and provide far more interesting accommodation than modern hotels. In Seville they tend to be very small and are mainly occupied by budget travellers and students. Many of them are really quaint as they have been established in charming Sevillian houses centred on a small courtyard patio. Room types range from shared dormitories to en suite double rooms.

There’s quite a shortage of cheap Seville hostels these days as many establishments have undergone reforms in recent times to transform them into attractive small hotels. They then have a licence to charge accordingly.

In a city of contant festivals it’s a good idea to book hostels well in advance especially during Holy Week (Semana Santa) and the April Fair (Feria de Abril). Below we’ve recommended a few centrally located hostels with online booking facilities.
