Santa Ponsa Mallorca

Santa Ponsa Tourist Information

You are here: Home / Mallorca Tourist Information / Santa Ponsa Tourist Information

Santa Ponsa is the third most popular resort amongst British tourists on Mallorca’s south west coast after Magaluf and Palma Nova. It has plenty British bars scattered throughout the resort but not nearly as many as nearby Magaluf. The attractive, sandy beach of Platja de Santa Ponsa stands in a picturesque bay in the very heart of the resort and is accessible on foot from most accommodation.

Trees at the back of the beach provide plenty welcome shade. The bay is surrounded on both sides by apartment and hotel developments. On the northern side above the rocky Platja des Castellot construction has been quite intense and high rise. On the southern side of the bay development is far more attractive thanks to most buildings being tastefully hidden amongst the pine trees.

Along Ramon de Montcada which is the first street back from the beach to the north there are plenty bars and restaurants to keep you entertained. On the opposite side of the bay along Avinguda Rei Jaume I there are even more, many with a British theme.

For a fine meal overlooking the bay try Restaurante Takume which has a fine open terrace. Jaime’s Café above Takume is a nice spot for a morning coffee with your newspaper whilst looking looking right across the beach.

Further along this road you’ll come to a turn for the Club Nautic Santa Ponsa which is home to some fabulous yachts. Along Via de la Creu there’s a great viewpoint over the whole bay and you’ll come to another small, secluded beach called Caló d’en Pellicer. For a map of the area showing a number of these viewpoints drop into the Santa Ponsa tourist information office on Via Puig de de Galatzó which is at the back of the main beach.

For theme parks and such entertainment you should head to Magaluf which is only 4km away. Golfers will be delighted to know that the Santa Ponsa Golf Course on the outskirts of town is one of the island’s finest which has played host to the Mallorcan Open.

Recommended Hotels in Santa Ponsa

The Pionero Hotel is highly recommended for for couples and families. It is a 10 minute walk to the superb beach and near to the bars and restaurants of this popular resort. The ever popular Santa Ponsa Park Hotel is centrally located near all the nighlife and just a few minutes stroll from the beach. Located in a quiet area of town, the Playa Santa Ponsa Hotel is a popular family hotel within easy reach of Santa Ponsa beach and the resort’s lively bars and the clubs. If you’d prefer to stay in an apartment complex then the Jardin del Mar Apartments are well worth considering. They’re a firm favourite with families offering proximity to the beach and to the main square where most of the nighlife takes place.
