Spain Private Tour ... Itinerary 16
Barcelona - Girona - Granada - Ronda - White Villages - Seville - Jerez -
Cordoba - Madrid - Toledo.
Thursday 26th May
Bill and Carol Parsons arrived in Barcelona from Scottsdale in Arizona and
stayed at the Barcelona Meridien Hotel.
During their three days in Barcelona they took two private city tours to the
Picasso and Miró Art Museums Tour and a Monumental Highlights of Barcelona Tour.
They also went on a full day private excursion to Girona and Figueres where they
visited the
Salvador Dali Museum.
Sunday
This morning they took a taxi to Barcelona airport for the short flight to
Granada (1¼ hours) where I (Gerry) met them at the airport. We drove into
Granada and made our way to the Granada Parador which is located in the grounds
of the Alhambra Palace.
After lunch we went over to the Albaicín Moorish district on the opposite side
of the city to get a spectacular view of the Alhambra from the viewingpoint at
the Mirador de San Nicolas. We then met our private guide at the entrance to the
Royal Chapel for a guided walking tour of the Chapel, Cathedral + city centre.
Monday
This morning was a 3 hour private tour of the Alhambra palace accompanied by an
official tour guide. After lunch we transferred across to the Parador of Ronda
high in the mountains above the Costa del Sol.
Tuesday
This morning we met Teresa, our Ronda tour guide, and took a private tour of the
historical centre of Ronda on the opposite side of the gorge from the Parador as
well as visiting the famous bullring. In the afternoon we drove via Grazalema
and Arcos de la Frontera to Seville on what is known as the 'Ruta de los Pueblos
Blancos'. On arrival in Seville, Bill and Carol checked into the magnificent
Alfonso XIII hotel.
Wednesday
This morning Concepción, our private guide in Seville, met Bill and Carol at
their hotel and took them on a walking tour of the old city followed by visits
to the Cathedral, Giralda and Alcazar. Dinner at La Albahaca in the evening was
followed by a flamenco show at 'Los Gallos'.
Thursday
This morning we headed south to Jerez de la Frontera to watch the show of the
dancing horses at the Royal Andalusian School Of Equestrian Art at midday.
Immediately after the we drove across to the Gonzales Byass Bodega, producers of
the world famous Tio Pepe sherry, for a tour of the winery with a tapas lunch.
Friday
This morning was a transfer to Cordoba via Carmona where we were scheduled to
meet Carmen, our tour guide, at the reception of the Amistad Cordoba Hotel for a
private tour which would include the Mezquita, the Alcazár and the Jewish
quarter. This marked the end of our direct driving service.
Saturday 4th June
Bill and Carol were booked on the early morning, high-speed AVE train to Madrid
from Cordoba station. For the three days that they had scheduled for Madrid they
had reservations at the Westin Palace hotel and we had booked private tours of
the Prado Museum and a day excursion to Toledo for them. Their departure date
was Tuesday 7th June. An action packed tour of the highlights of Spain.
