Spain Private Tour ... Itinerary 16

Barcelona - Girona - Granada - Ronda - White Villages - Seville - Jerez - Cordoba - Madrid - Toledo.

Thursday 26th May

Bill and Carol Parsons arrived in Barcelona from Scottsdale in Arizona and stayed at the Barcelona Meridien Hotel.

During their three days in Barcelona they took two private city tours to the Picasso and Miró Art Museums Tour and a Monumental Highlights of Barcelona Tour.

They also went on a full day private excursion to Girona and Figueres where they visited the
Salvador Dali Museum.

Sunday

This morning they took a taxi to Barcelona airport for the short flight to Granada (1¼ hours) where I (Gerry) met them at the airport. We drove into Granada and made our way to the Granada Parador which is located in the grounds of the Alhambra Palace.

After lunch we went over to the Albaicín Moorish district on the opposite side of the city to get a spectacular view of the Alhambra from the viewingpoint at the Mirador de San Nicolas. We then met our private guide at the entrance to the Royal Chapel for a guided walking tour of the Chapel, Cathedral + city centre.

Monday

This morning was a 3 hour private tour of the Alhambra palace accompanied by an official tour guide. After lunch we transferred across to the Parador of Ronda high in the mountains above the Costa del Sol.

Tuesday

This morning we met Teresa, our Ronda tour guide, and took a private tour of the historical centre of Ronda on the opposite side of the gorge from the Parador as well as visiting the famous bullring. In the afternoon we drove via Grazalema and Arcos de la Frontera to Seville on what is known as the 'Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos'. On arrival in Seville, Bill and Carol checked into the magnificent Alfonso XIII hotel.

Wednesday

This morning Concepción, our private guide in Seville, met Bill and Carol at their hotel and took them on a walking tour of the old city followed by visits to the Cathedral, Giralda and Alcazar. Dinner at La Albahaca in the evening was followed by a flamenco show at 'Los Gallos'.

Thursday

This morning we headed south to Jerez de la Frontera to watch the show of the dancing horses at the Royal Andalusian School Of Equestrian Art at midday. Immediately after the we drove across to the Gonzales Byass Bodega, producers of the world famous Tio Pepe sherry, for a tour of the winery with a tapas lunch.

Friday

This morning was a transfer to Cordoba via Carmona where we were scheduled to meet Carmen, our tour guide, at the reception of the Amistad Cordoba Hotel for a private tour which would include the Mezquita, the Alcazár and the Jewish quarter. This marked the end of our direct driving service.

Saturday 4th June

Bill and Carol were booked on the early morning, high-speed AVE train to Madrid from Cordoba station. For the three days that they had scheduled for Madrid they had reservations at the Westin Palace hotel and we had booked private tours of the Prado Museum and a day excursion to Toledo for them. Their departure date was Tuesday 7th June. An action packed tour of the highlights of Spain.

Spain is divided into 17 autonomous regions each of which has a local government. Tour guide licences are granted to a limited number of people in each region which allows them to offer official guided tours of particular monuments within their region. Our drivers are not licensed to give such tours within specific monuments but are at your disposal to provide general information on our destinations. We work closely with the licensed guides in the main cities and can hire their specialised services for any monuments on request.
