Tenerife Theme Parks
There's a fine selection of Tenerife theme parks centred on waterparks and
animal parks. Below we've listed some of the most popular ones but there are
plenty other things to do away from the beaches at smaller parks around the
island.

lions and penguins. The underwater tunnel through the aquarium is an additional
fascinating sight. This is a full day out with plenty to entertain all the
family. There's a free mini-train every 20 minutes from the centre of Puerto de

Pyramids Tenerife
Just inland from Tenerife's east coast are the fascinating Pyramids of Guimar.
These six pyramids are very Mayan in style which has led to the theory that
Tenerife may have had contact with the Americas before Columbus 'discovered'
them (Thor
Heyerdahl certainly believed so). There's an interesting archaeological and
Ethnographical museum at El Escobonal about 12km south with interesting displays
relating to Guanche history (the original peoples of the Canary Islands).
Parque las Aguilas (Jungle Park)
Address: Urbanización Las Águilas del Teide s/n
Opening Hours: 9.30am to 5.30pm all year round.
Website:
Jungle Park Tenerife
Eagle Park, or Jungle Park as it's also known, is home to a fabulous range of
birds of prey living amongst lush, tropical gardens just outside Los Cristianos.
The eagle show is superb when some of these enormous birds perform for the day's
visitors. You'll also find numerous wild animals living here in their natural
habitat including the extremely rare white lions, tigers, hippos and monkeys.
There are free shuttle buses from Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos every
day.
Casa del Vino la Baranda (El Sauzal)
Address: Autopista General del Norte, Km.21 (Sauzal - La Baranda)
Opening Hours: 11am to 8pm (Tuesday to Saturday); 11am to 6pm (Sundays &
Holidays); Closed Mondays.
In the heart of Tenerife's wine country, on the north coast, is the delightful
town of El Sauzal. The nearby Casa del Vino la Baranda is a traditional country
manor which now serves as a wine museum and restaurant. It's a great spot for
lunch on the terrace and there are classical music concerts in the evening
during the summer months.
Bananera - Jardines del Atlantico

Cristianos and Las Americas.
Bananera - El Guanche

If you're staying on the north coast this is another banana plantation where
you'll see not only the traditional banana plantation but also a wide selection
of tropical vegetation. There are free buses from the centre of Puerto de la
Cruz.
Camel Park
Address: Carretera Los Cristianos - Chayofa
Opening Hours: 10am to 7pm
Take the free bus from Los Cristianos or Playa de las Americas to the Camel Park
just outside where you can have a ride on the native camels of the Canary
Islands.
Other ideas:
Complejo Costa Martinez
If you're in Santa Cruz de Tenerife you must visit this redeveloped area
consisting of tropical gardens and an enormous artificial lake. It's not a theme
park but is one of Tenerife's most important attractions and is a great place to
escape the afternoon heat.
Siam Park
At the time of writing Siam Park wasn't open. It is a new waterpark down near
Costa Adeje with all kinds of slides and other attractions. It includes a beach
where you can try your hand at surfing, scary water rides and more tranquil
attractions for all the family.
