Seville City Breaks
Seville is the city of Carmen, Don Juan and Figaro. It is a hot, romantic
city with a wealth of art and monuments and a love of flamenco dancing and
bullfighting.
Above all it is a city of great charm and gaiety whose ambience will remain
with you for a lifetime. Here we provide a very basic itinerary idea based on
just two nights in Seville with useful links to enable you to create your own
city break.
Suggested Itinerary:
Day 1:
On arrival at Seville airport you can arrange to have a car and driver
waiting to transfer to your city centre hotel.
Seville has Spain's best tapas bars, many of which are in the Santa Cruz
quarter where your hotel will probably be located. So this is a great way to
spend your first evening wandering the tapas bars of Santa Cruz.
Day 2:
After breakfast you can visit the enormous Gothic Cathedral, the Moorish
Giralda, Seville's most beautiful building and the Alcazar. After lunch take a
horse drawn carriage around the city visiting the amazing Plaza de España and
other major sights.
In the evening you should have dinner at one of our recommended restaurants
then head to a flamenco performance.
Tapas
The word tapas comes from the Spanish verb ‘tapar’ ( to cover). They
originate from Andalucia where more than a century ago a slice of bread used to
be placed on top of a glass of wine to keep out flies. After some time they took
to adding a slice of cheese or sausage to the bread until eventually it became
customary to offer a small snack with a drink. The idea of tapas spread around
Spain such that today they represent a wonderful way of experiencing the huge
variety of Spanish dishes.
