Leon Parador |
The Leon Parador was formerly the monastery of San Marcos which
was used as a hospital to lodge the pilgrims who were on their way
to Santiago de Compostela. In 1965 it was reconstructed and adapted
for use as a luxury Parador with rooms which are fit for royalty. It
is a living museum and of special importance are the church, the
sacristy, the cloisters and the choir stalls. The Parador has a
magnificent main hall with a 16th-century coffered ceiling and a
banquet
hall.
In the restaurant you can enjoy special dishes such as 'maragato
cocido' (stew with meat and chickpeas), local sausage, cured meat
and frogs' legs.
