Chinchon Parador |
The Chinchon Parador is a luxury four star hotel housed in a
17th century former Augustinian convent. Situated in the old
area of Chinchon on the wonderful Plaza Mayor this parador is very
quiet and provides visitors with a perfect place to relax,
especially if they have come from sightseeing in the hustle and
bustle of Madrid. It has a swimming pool which is open in the
summer months. Before being opened as a Parador in 1982
the building went through extensive restoration creating large
bedrooms each with a view of the gardens. The original
cloisters were glassed in and the courtyard offers a pretty picture.
In the restaurant you can sample some of the traditional dishes of
the area such as 'sopa de ajo' (garlic soup), 'cochinillo' (roast
suckling pig) and 'cocido madrileño' (chick pea stew).
This parador is very popular so guests are well advised to book
rooms in advance.
