Nerja Holidays
With over 300 days of sunshine a year the town of Nerja is a popular year
round holiday destination. It is located just 55km east of Malaga airport and
120km from Granada airport which has become an alternative point of arrival.
The resort has some fine beaches and has retained a certain fishing village
character which the big resorts on the main part of the Costa del Sol have
failed to do. Nightlife tends to be laid back rather
than raucous and will particularly appeal to families and mature couples.
There is a fine selection of accommodation in Nerja including
villas, apartments,
hotels and
family run hostels. Many visitors book all inclusive packages through the
big tour operators but there are more and more independent travellers these days
who book their accommodation privately and arrange
transfers from Malaga Airport or
rent a car there. One of the most popular spots for
short term rental in Nerja is Capistrano
Village to the east of town which has grown beyond recognition. There are
now properties up the hillside at San Juan de Capistrano and more right down
near Burriana Beach called Capistrano Villas.
There's plenty to do in Nerja though most days are spent lounging around on one
of its beaches. Evenings often begin around the
Balcon de Europa before visitors wander off to one of Nerja's fine
restaurants. If you need a break from the beach
then a half day visit to the nearby Nerja Caves is
highly recommended as is a trip up the mountain to the beautiful village of
Frigiliana. For a longer day out you can take a
trip to Granada and visit the incredible
Alhambra Palace. A short stroll out of town to
the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary is a must for the kids.
