Menorca Holidays
The beautiful island of Menorca has always been a favourite holiday
destination amongst holidaymakers especially those who love to bathe in stunning
blue waters or sun worship on the fabulous sandy beaches. Of course, the sea and
sand are not the only attractions of the island, as it is steeped in rich
history and many people are drawn to Menorca each year to simply take in the
ancient monuments and check out the mysterious caves.
There are all manner of places to stay at, so whether you prefer a quite
location with a laid back atmosphere, a family fun packed resort or simply
somewhere to get your head down at night while you are out exploring all day,
you are sure to find something just perfect for your needs.
The south of the island is where you will discover most of the traditional
resorts, for example, Cala en Porter and Cala 'n Forcat where there are superb
beaches, many shops and numerous restaurants for you to choose from. If you are
staying at Cala 'n Forcat you really should not miss the water park – a great
day out for all of the family.
Following along the south coast there are several quieter resorts where many
people enjoy staying because of their close proximity to the airport, making for
an extremely short transfer time and although it is not the longest flight you
will ever go on, everyone is keen to start enjoying their holiday as soon as
they get there.
The scenery is beautiful along this stretch with sandy white bays and coves
and the beaches in general on this island are reasonably undeveloped in
comparison with the larger sister island of Mallorca. The classic village
fishing village of Binbeca Vell boasts some fine examples of architecture along
with the white painted houses stranding proud against the blue sky.
In complete comparison to many of the small beaches, positioned around half
way along the south eastern coast is Son Bou beach which goes on for almost two
miles and this is an ideal spot for a livelier holiday.
The extreme south western coast of the island offers us the resort of Cala 'n
Bosch which is a new resort placed conveniently adjacent to the rather more
developed area of Cala Blanca. Cala 'n Bosch is popular with British holiday
makers and has many apartments, private villas and a couple of decent sized
hotels.
One of the most popular places in the North of Menorca is Fornells Bay, a
popular and unspoilt fishing village with a great selection of eateries on the
harbour where you can pass a few hours with a glass of beer or wine relaxing in
a street bar or café.
Accommodation ranges from self catering studio apartments to luxury five star
hotels offering full or all inclusive board and most of these are available in
any of the resorts mentioned in the Menorca beaches section of this website.
Of course, there any many people who decide they would like to own their own
property on this beautiful island following many years of holidaying here. There
are real estate offices who will be only too pleased to show you properties of
all qualities on their books and then all you have to do is make an offer. As
with property purchases anywhere in Spain there are several checks which have to
be made on the property and the land involved, but you will find that a good
real estate company will complete all these enquiries for you and provide you
with any information you need prior to going ahead with your purchase.
So whether you decide to simply take your holidays on this lovely island or
settle there on a temporary or permanent basis, you will find it is a great
place to be with summer sunshine and mild winters – a real jewel of the
Mediterranean.
