Mallorca Yacht Charters
Mallorca yacht charters are available from a number of exclusive operators
based around the island. In the calm, warm waters of the Balearics sailors can enjoy their
hobby during most months of the year making Palma a major hub for sailing
enthusiasts worldwide. The Bay of Palma is particularly well known for the
quality of its sailing winds. Ask anyone who has experienced the embat wind
about how inviting it is as it blows enticingly around this picturesque setting.
The Balearic island of Mallorca is a particularly beautiful location, with
its contrasts between spectacular mountain scenery and, of course, its fabulous
beaches, harbours and secluded coves, some of which are only accessible from the
sea. Palma Mallorca bay itself is the venue of many prestigious sailing events –
the King’s Cup and the Princess Sofia Cup, for example –and often attracts
internationally known yachts and sailors. You can also visit the Isla de
Dragonera, a nature reserve island with some stunning scenic views.
Also, within a day’s sailing are the islands of Ibiza, Menorca and
Formentera. Ibiza, of course, is an island of enormous contrasts and Menorca
offers the opportunity of sailing into the spectacular natural harbour of the
capital, Mahon – Europe’s largest. Sailing into the deep, protected waters of
Mahon (or Maó), with the town’s architecturally delightful houses on the cliffs
above you and some enormously impressive luxury villas to pass by, will be a
truly memorable experience. Then you can always head off round the north of the
island to the picturesque sheltered harbour at Fornells, a frequent haunt of the
Spanish Royal family during the summer.
As a contrast, there’s Cabrera Island, another nature reserve, which can be
visited if you have the necessary licence, which can be arranged by your Charter
company.
In addition to offering sailing in the Med’s clear waters with consistent
weather and winds, you have the benefit of so much ‘line of sight’ navigation –
making sailing so much more straightforward.
As befits such a yachting paradise, Mallorca has numerous marinas, to be
found along the whole of its coastline and possessing the standard of facilities
that one would expect from such a prominent venue. Not only can mooring spaces,
fuel points, and boating supplies be found, but also some of the very best
restaurants and clubs in the island for your time ashore.
In most of these marinas there will also be a number of yacht charters
available, from some of the industry’s top names to more local companies, and
they can provide almost any type of craft you are looking for.
Because of its kind conditions and line of sight navigation, Mallorca yacht
charters are ideal for less experienced sailors to enjoy their cruises.
Consequently, there are many charters available for people new to the activity –
with training courses provided as well as experienced ASA teachers who can
cruise with you. Whatever kind of charter you choose, you can be sure of finding
a fully-equipped, professionally maintained and immaculately clean yacht waiting
for you, along with all the briefings and charts you’re likely to need during
your time on board.
