Paguera Tourist Information
Paguera is just 10km west of
Magaluf on
Mallorca's south west coast. It is almost exclusively a resort for German
tourists with practically every bar and restaurant displaying their menus in
German before any other language. There are some Spanish restaurants but no
British bars at all.
The beach to the east of the resort is Platja de Tora which is overlooked by the
imposing Hotel Beverly Playa. Bar Tora at the western end is popular for fresh
fish dishes and large, cold beers. A little further west is Paguera's main
Plantja Palmira beach which has a good selection of popular cafés bars and
restaurants all along the back of the beach. Good sand and plenty sunbeds and
shade.
Set back from the beach and running right through the resort is the very
pleasant Bulevard de Peguera. This is a long strip of shops, bars, restaurants
and ice cream parlours which has restricted traffic and becomes pedestrians only
after 7pm. The shops include stylish designer boutiques, leather and perfume
stores and jewellers which represent a better class of shopping than you'd find
in most resorts.
A fine restaurant on the Bulevard is La Pampa (no.42) which serves up superb
steaks as well as a fine range of fish dishes in elegant surroundings. The
nearby Café Bar Riva (no.48) is a nice place for a snack on its beautiful sun
terrace overlooking the sea. A worthwhile visit from Paguera is to Cala Fornells which is only 2km to the
west. It consists mainly of exclusive residential properties and has a nice
beach on the way to the tiny cove in front of the very quaint
Cala Fornells
Hotel. There are great views from here across to
Santa Ponsa. From Paguera it is possible to to a 2 hour trip on a
catamaran with 28 underwater windows with a company called Cormoran 2000 or
with Aquavision on a semi-submersible catamaran.
Apart from giving you
the opportunity to see many fish in their natural habitat in the Mallgrat
Islands Nature Park there is also a swimming stop during these trips.
