Calas de Mallorca Tourist Information
Calas de Mallorca is an extreme disappointment. I'd expected a new resort of
major tourist interest when going there to research it for this website but
merely found a scattering of hotels and apartments over quite a large area which
was difficult to get around thanks to its impossible road system. It has little
in the way of amenities for tourists and I see no reason to go there when there
are so many more attractive options nearby.
To the south of town are two pretty beaches called Cala Domingos and Cala Murada
which are worth a visit if you're in the area. The Jumaica Tropical Park just to
the south is also worth a visit. This is where a Mallorcan family bought some
arid land in 1973 only to find it had its own priceless water supply which
they've used to transform their property into a tropical garden containing many
animals. A nice excursion with the kids.
Going by the number of cranes around the town there is clearly plenty
construction taking place and this seems to be low rise apartment development
which might make this a place of interest in the future but for the moment it's
hardly worth visiting.
