Cala Bona Tourist Information
Cala Bona lies just north of Cala Millor on Mallorca's east coast. It is centred on a lovely square in the shadow of the quaint
Cala Bona Hotel which
overlooks a smart little port. What Cala Bona gains in quaintness over
Cala
Millor it loses in not having a real beach. There is a small beach in front of
the
Hotel Levante but this is way inferior to the beautiful kilometre long
golden beach of its near neighbour.
The majority of visitors to Cala Bona tend to be British which makes for quite
an interesting contrast as you walk along the promenade from Cala Millor. One
minute you're hearing German voices everywhere and seeing Bittburger beer signs
then once you get to the
Bonamar Hotel and Yates' bar and steakhouse the flavour
suddenly becomes more British as English voices become more common. There are
nice terraces here overlooking the sea from Snoddy's Café and the Donkey's Rest.
Just behind the Hotel Levante you'll find a pleasant strip of bars and
restaurants leading to the small port though there are mainly rocks in front of
them rather than sandy beach. At the corner of the port you'll find a very nice
restaurant called Es Mollet next to a few other attractive eateries overlooking
the main square.
The Rope and Anchor bar is a friendly British haunt on the same
square serving traditional dishes. In the port itself is the Thalassa Café which
seems to float on the water and is a fine spot for early morning coffees and
early evening cocktails. If you like Italian food just continue a little further north to the next corner
where you'll find the excellent Paparazzi restaurant. Beyond this there's a
pleasant walk next to the rocky shore as far as the restaurant at Sa Punta.
There are plenty excursions available from Cala Bona, especially if you have
your own transport. For more information take a look at the
Cala Millor
page.
