Gay Madrid
Madrid's Gay Nightlife is as unforgettable as it gets. For those who consider
themselves bisexual, lesbian, gay, or just plain confused there is a lot to do
in Madrid.
Crowned the Gay capital of Europe, Madrid is full of everything a gay person
could ever want to take part in, from good clean fun to the raunchiest of
raunchy. Whether you fall into one of these categories or somewhere in between
Madrid has no shortage of activities and accommodations for the happiest people
on earth. After all, they don't call homosexuals 'gay' for no reason!
Here are a few great recommendations on what to do, where to stay, and where to
have a good drink in Madrid. Rest assured that you are travelling to one of the
gay-friendliest towns on the European continent.
Live it Up or Save Some Cash with Gay Madrid Accommodations
When you are travelling to Madrid to enjoy its gay friendliness, it is a good
idea to stay as close to the action as possible. The area in particular that is
the most popular with the gay community is called Chueca; staying in a hotel in
or near Chueca is advisable to cut down on the cost and time that it may
involved in going back and forth between your hotel and all of the fun.
The Hotel Lusso Infantas Madrid is a large, lovely hotel in Chueca. It is
situated close to shopping, bars, transportation and just about anything else a
traveller could need. Best of all, this hotel has been recently renovated so the
surprises here will be few and far between—at least as far as the accommodations
are concerned.
The Hostal Colors Host is another favourite with gay travellers to Madrid. As
hostels go, this one is small—nine rooms to be exact. Each one is painted a
different colour—kind of like a rainbow, making it perfectly made for gay
Madrid.
Have a Gay Old Time at the Bar
Needless to say, Madrid has more than its share of gay bars. One of the most
famous is Black and White. This bar hosts strippers from Thursday through
Sunday, and features two dance halls for people of varying tastes in music and
entertainment.
For those who need a little more adult-style fun, the Eagle Bar is the place to
be. Complete with leather, whips, and a swing-chair this one is not for the
faint hearted. If this still isn't hardcore enough for you, then you might want
to give Odarko a try. This bar is sex-themed, so if you are at all squeamish
then you might want to stay away—far away!
If You'd Rather Dance Then Drink (Or Combine the Two)…
There is much fun to be had in Madrid's gay disco scene. Escape is a great
place to escape with a great drink and good dance workout. The people are
friendly, the music is great and it caters to the tastes of both men and women.
Escape is topped only by Ricks, one of the most popular gay bars in the whole of
Madrid. This one is open until 5am, so you can literally dance and drink until
you drop. This club welcomes the business of both men and women alike, but it
isn't for those travelling on a strict budget as drinks aren't cheap here.
Soak It All Up With a Good Meal
Travelling to and spending time in one of the most gay-friendly cities
wouldn't be complete without a stop at a gay-friendly restaurant or two. El
Armario and Lateral are two of the hottest spots to eat for those of the gay
persuasion. El Armario appropriately translates into The Closet, but those who
frequent this spot rarely are. For authentic Spanish food and an open
atmosphere, check out either or both of these stylish Spanish eateries.
No matter where you currently live you know that it can be difficult to enjoy
yourself with your loved one if you don’t' feel accepted where you are. Madrid
is a great place to go if you are gay or just interested in it, whether you are
taking a trip with your partner or looking to find a new one. |
