Lanzarote Airport Transfers
Lanzarote airport lies just 5km south-west of Arrecife, the island's capital
and 12km north-east of Puerto del Carmen the island's principal resort. Taxis,
buses and private transfers are all widely available to get you to your destination but many visitors choose to
rent a car in Lanzarote on arrival as prices tend to be very competitive.
Taxi prices in Lanzarote seem to have rocketed in recent years and are now the
least competitive option for airport transfers. For example, if you're
travelling to Playa Blanca (40 minutes drive) the price of taxis from the
airport is around €50 each way which seems quite expensive when you consider
that cars can often be rented for around €100 for the week. On top of the cost
you can expect to wait in a long queue at busy arrivals times.
Other approximate prices from the airport are:
Arrecife €15
Costa Teguise €25
Playa Blanca €50
Puerto del Carmen €20
You can check the latest official rates at
Lanzarote Taxi but notice that rates are higher when pre-booking.
Public buses do serve Lanzarote airport but only go to Arrecife so you need to
change there before getting a bus to your final destination which is extremely
inconvenient when travelling with any luggage and could involve a significant
wait in Arrecife.
Shuttlebus transfers are a far better option than both taxis and buses. They
can be pre-booked so there's a driver waiting for you when you arrive and prices
are cheaper than taxis and far more convenient and comfortable than public
buses.
Resorthoppa offercheap shuttle transfers from Lanzarote airport to all the main
resorts as well as private transfers if you prefer to have your own vehicle and
driver waiting for you rather than a shared one.
For good deals on
Lanzarote car rental take a look at
Economy Car Hire whose weekly rates are usually cheaper than return taxis to
Playa Blanca. Try to book as early as possible as few cars are still available
at the last minute during the peak summer months.
