Figueretas Ibiza
Lying just east of Ibiza Town, Figueretas has developed into a
residential suburb of the capital with a thriving beach community. Its pleasant
promenade is the resort's main artery which runs the length of beach continuing
along to the lively resort of Playa d'en Bossa which is only a 20 minute stroll
to the south. This is a particularly pleasant walk in the evenings when all the
temporary market stalls selling handicrafts are set up. You can easily walk to
Ibiza Town as well.
As a place to stay Figueretas attracts all ages groups. Families are attracted
by its fine beach and close proximity to the attractions of Ibiza Town whilst
younger crowds are well located for leisurely days spent at the beach combined
with a lively nightlife in the nearby resort of Playa d'en Bossa and the capital
itself. There's a good selection of hotels and self-catering apartments to suit
all tastes and budgets.
Numerous bars and restaurants are scattered along the promenade with fine sea
views such as the Restaurante Principe which is a good choice for Mediterranean
fish dishes. There are a few British pubs in Figueretas such as the Royal Oak
and the Queen Vic which serve typical pub grub and provide decent entertainment.
There's also a fine Indian restaurant called the Shanti Sakti which is a must
for curry addicts. However, to get more of the notorious Ibiza nightlife you'd
be better off heading into Playa d'en Bossa and Ibiza Town.
Boat services depart from in front of the Los Molinos hotel which will take you
across to the nearby island of Formentera for the day or head north on the
Wednesday cruise up to Es Cana where the weekly 'hippy market' is held. Children
will love the waterpark near Playa d'en Bossa and there's enough there to keep
the adults entertained as well. For clubbers the Discobus serves Playa d'en
Bossa and Ibiza Town providing transport between the main clubs on the island
including those in San Antonio.
