Es Cana Ibiza
The resort of Es Cana with its quaint little fishing port lies just north of
Santa Eulalia on Ibiza's east coast. The resort has been heavily developed and
is particularly attractive to family visitors looking for a typical beach
holiday in the sun. The main tour operators provide great value holidays in a
range of accommodation catering mainly for family groups.
The beach at Es Cana has golden sand and shallow water which makes it safe for
young children. There are some good watersports to suit all ages including
windsurfing and parasailing. There are some superb beaches within easy proximity
such as Cala Martina which is just a stroll to the south of Es Cana and
S'Argamassa Beach which is about 2km away. These offer golden, secluded beaches
with more watersports activities. Cala Martina is particularly popular amongst
scuba divers.
The nightlife of Es Cana is fairly tame compared with the better known Ibiza
resorts but this is an asset as far as the majority of holidaymakers here are
concerned. There's a good selection of bars including a fair few British pubs
serving typical pub grub. There's a selection of restaurants serving the usual
Spanish, Italian or Chinese meals or if you prefer a little more choice you can
take the bus into nearby Santa Eulalia which is only a few minutes away. Disco
Kancela in the town centre attracts many of the younger crowd.
By day the beach is obviously the main attraction but there are also other
things to do when you need a break from sunning yourself. The mini road train
known as the Ibiza Express takes passengers on leisurely tours of the northern
coastline and countryside whilst there are boat trips from the little port in Es
Cana which go across to the neighbouring island of Formentera or more locally to
Santa Eulalia and Ibiza Town. The famous Ibiza 'hippy market' takes place just
on the outskirts of Es Cana every Wednesday attracting tourists from all over
the island and is well worth a visit.
