Volvo Masters
The Volvo Masters golf tournament was inaugurated in 1988 and was the final
event of the European Tour. The event most commonly took place at the Valderrama
course until 2009 when the event didn't take place.
Its name was also changed briefly from 2001 till 2003 from Volvo Masters to Volvo
Masters Andalucia but then returned to its original name in 2004. In 2010 it
returns to Valderrama as the Andalucia Masters.
The beautiful yet challenging nature of this
course provides a real test for the players who qualify entirely on merit.
The Volvo Masters traditionally took place one week before the Tour Championship of
the PGA Tour so that golfers who belong to both the PGA Tour and the European
Tour could participate.
