The 2009 Champions League Final will take place in the Stadio Olimpico in
Rome on 27 May 2009. This famous stadium with a capacity of over 72,000 is home
to both AS Roma and Lazio football clubs.
It will be the 4th time the stadium has hosted the European cup final having
been the site of Liverpool's first win in 1977 and their victory in 1984 over
the local team, AS Roma, in their own stadium. In 1996 Juventus won the
Champions League here against Ajax.
The stadium is also home to the Italian national team and was the scene of the
1990 World Cup Final when West Germany beat Argentina.
