Pictures of Dolphins & Whales on the Costa del Sol
The Straits of Gibraltar is a major highway on the migration route of whales,
as it is the only entrance / exit between the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic
Ocean. There are daily dolphin and whale safaris operating out of La
Linea, Gibraltar and Tarifa. On most of these trips you'll see both Common
and Striped dolphins, less often seen here are the larger Bottlenose dolphins.
Pilot whales and Orcas are not uncommon in the Bay and Sperm whales pass through
the Straits occasionally. Fin whales often take up residence in the Bay
during the summer months.
On these dolphin and whale safaris sightings are virtually guaranteed.
If you are unlucky enough not to see anything you'll be given a free ticket to
come back the next day.
