Taxis to Almunecar
If you take a taxi from one of the may waiting outside the arrivals terminal
you can expect to pay an official single fare to Almunecar of up to €135 though
we've heard of Malaga taxis asking for more than this on arrival.
Buses to Almunecar
An economy option is to take a bus from the airport to Malaga bus station.
Look for the "Linea A Express" service which takes about 25 minutes and runs
about every 30 minutes. From Malaga bus station there are numerous departures to
Almunecar which at the time of writing are as follows: 08:00, 11:00, 13:00,
14:30, 15:00, 17:00, 17:30, 20:30. The journey takes 1½ hours and the fare is
about €7.50. Be sure to check the www.alsa.es website to confirm that the above
bus times are correct.
Trains are not an Option
There are no trains running east from Malaga so the only way you might decide
to use the airport train service is to get into Malaga city and walk to the
nearby bus station for the bus to Almunecar. Realistically not many people will
choose the bus option as it's quite a hassle, especially with luggage, and on
arrival you'll still probably need to get a taxi from the Almunecar bus station
to your accommodation.
