Algarve Golf

There are world class golf courses the whole way along the Algarve. Below we've selected a few examples of courses stretching from the Spanish border to the far western Algarve.

Eastern Algarve

Casto Marim Golf Course

Also near the town of Vila Real de Santo António, the Casto Marim runs through hills covered with pines with the occasional view of the River Guadiana of Spain. Careful play is required with strategically placed water hazards, bunkers, and trees. Take special care on the seventeenth hole as there is a bunker before the green and a lake behind it. Special club selection will be needed for this par-3. Offering a putting green, driving range, chipping green, pro shop and a restaurant with bar make this course a delight to enjoy.

Quinta da Ria Golf Course

Located near the town of Tavira, the Quinta da Ria offers an eighteen hole golf course with a challenging course with many bunkers, water hazards, and trees. The course does offer golf lessons, a pro shop, and a snack bar, so if you want to practice driving, putting or chipping, the course itself can ensure you get enough practice. The views on each hole is spectacular and worth enjoying while waiting for your turn at tee.

Central Algarve

Pine Cliffs Golf Course

Pine Cliffs Golf Course is located near Albufiera and is managed by the Hotel Sheraton. This is a nine hole golf course that is well maintained and popular with locals. The ninth hole promises a beautiful view of the "Devil's Parlour," a sandy beach. This course also offers a putting green, chipping green, driving range, pro shop, golf academy, tennis courts, and a restaurant and bar.

Laguna Golf Course

Near the small town of Vila Real de Santo António, you will find the Laguna Golf Course. This eighteen hole golf course was created by the famous golf architect, Joseph Lee. This course is relatively easy to navigate, however when the area is experiencing high winds, the challenge is then presented. The course offers very little to its users, having only the driving range, putting and chipping greens, a pro shop and a restaurant and bar. Watch the eleventh and twelfth holes, however, as they circle a lake.

San Lorenzo Golf Course

Almancil is home to the San Lorenzo Golf Course. This eighteen hole course, also by Joseph Lee, promises views of the estate on which it lies. This challenging course will encourage you to choose your clubs carefully and hit the ball with care. The San Lorenzo Golf Course offers chipping and putting greens, pro shop, driving range and restaurant and bar. It has once been ranked second best in Europe.

Western Algarve

Parque da Floresta

The Parque da Floresta golf course is located in western Algarve. This golf course is located near the town of Sagres in Cape St. Vincent. It is an eighteen hole golf course that also has a driving range, pro shop, putting green, golf academy, tennis and bowling, horseback riding, indoor, outdoor and children's pools, restaurant, bar, gymnasium and health and beauty facilities. The course setting presents beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and seaside. The fairways roll up and down the hills and demand good placing of the tee and accurate shots. The fifteenth hole is a golfers dream.

Boavista Golf Course

The Boavista Golf Course offers a pro shop, chipping greens, snacks and bar, golf academy, a putting green and driving range. This eighteen hole golf course is divided into two distinct sections of play that provide a variety of attractive and intriguing holes. It promises a sensible game for the average player. With umbrella pines, blossoming almond, fig, palm and olive trees that line the fairway and weaving their way between water hazards and strategically placed bunkers, the breathtaking views, scenery and clear Atlantic Ocean that is visible from most holes. This course is a delight for a golfer. Located near the town of Lagos, this golf course is a treat and should be experienced by the avid golfer.

Gramacho Golf Course

The Gramacho Golf Course is a sight that will delight the eyes. This eighteen hole course was originally a nine hole, but was expanded to enhance golfers' play and delight. The golfer must be technically accurate to complete this course. The course also offers a driving range, chipping greens and bunker areas, lawn bowling green, pro shop, golf academy, tennis, football and basketball areas as well as a restaurant and bar. The nearest town is Carvoeiro.
