Taxis at Faro Airport

As you’d expect there is a taxi rank immediately outside the arrivals terminal. The fare to some of the resorts is fairly steep. You can arrange taxi transfers in advance with Resorthoppa.

Trains from Faro Railway Station

Trains on the AlgarveYou could take a taxi from Faro airport to the train station about 5km away then take a train along the coast. Services tend to be infrequent and often unreliable. Check timetables at www.cp.pt (their website is often as slow as their trains). The journey to Lagos takes about 1¾ hours and costs around 10 Euros.

Buses from Faro Airport

There is a local bus service operating between the airport and Faro centre about every hour. The stop is also just outside arrivals. During the summer months a special Aerobus service connects with the town centre. As most arrivals are heading west to Albufeira and further you’ll need to get the bus from the airport to Faro bus station then catch the fast ‘Tranrapido’ bus service along the coast (check www.eva-bus.com for timetables).

This service takes just 40 minutes to Albufeira but the terminal is on the outskirts of the town so you then have to get to your accommodation from there. Normal bus service also run to Albufeira and stop near a lot of the popular hotels but can take longer. You must purchase tickets in advance in Faro bus station. Services are limited at weekends on normal lines. To make sure you don’t miss connections in Faro it’s a good idea to take a taxi to the bus station.
