Faro Airport Transfers
Faro airport transfers can be arranged to all destinations along the Algarve
and beyond though public transport can prove
inconvenient for many arrivals.
The modern airport lies 4km from Faro town, 6km from Faro bus station and
there is a train station 5km away. For transfers from Faro airport you have the
following options:
Shuttle Transfers
Without any doubt whatsoever the most convenient way to get to where you're
going is to
pre-book a Faro Airport Transfer.
With this service you'll be collected at the airport and delivered directly
to your accommodation anywhere on the Algarve. You can book a shuttle bus for
your whole family or share the journey if there are just a couple of you
travelling.
Any size of group can be catered for and private transfers are also available
to all destinations. Prices are extremely good value for such a hassle free
service especially when compared with the public transport alternatives.
Taxis
As you'd expect there is a taxi rank immediately outside the arrivals
terminal. The fare to Albufeira is around 35 Euros and Praia de Rocha will be
more than double that.
Buses
There is a local bus service operating between the airport and Faro centre
about every hour. The stop is also just outside arrivals. During the summer
months a special Aerobus service connects with the town centre. As most arrivals
are heading west to Albufeira and further you'll need to get the bus from the
airport to Faro bus station then catch the fast 'Tranrapido' bus service along
the coast (check www.eva-bus.com for timetables).
This service takes just 40 minutes to Albufeira but the terminal is on the
outskirts of the town so you then have to get to your accommodation from there.
Normal bus service also run to Albufeira and stop near a lot of the popular
hotels but can take longer. The price for either service is under 5 Euros and
you must purchase tickets in advance in Faro bus station. Services are limited
at weekends on normal lines.
To make sure you don't miss connections in Faro it's a good idea to take a taxi
to the bus station.
Train
You could take a taxi from Faro airport to the train station about 5km away
then take a train along the coast. Services tend to be infrequent and often
unreliable. Check timetables at www.cp.pt (their website is often as slow as
their trains). The
journey to Lagos takes about 1¾ hours and
costs around 10 Euros.
